LYDFORD VILLAGE FUNDRAISERS
The Fundraisers came into being to raise money to help refurbish the Parish Hall. They did this by putting on a wide variety of events at the hall for villagers to enjoy. After the refurbishment , we decided to continue these popular events and to raise money for, mainly, village projects. We have helped to raise money for Neighbourhood Watch, Lydford Hand Bells, new piano for the Parish Hall, fencing for the Sports Club, the repair of Lydford Lower Weir, St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and made many other small donations to various organisations.
Some recent events are: Take Art productions (such as Alex Horne, Portico Quartet and Matt Harvey), Burns Night Suppers, Jazz with the Grey Dogs, the Brue Boys, Curry Night, Hallowe’en, Quiz Nights, Open Gardens, Entertaining Talks (Charles Hazlewood, Sir Conrad Heron and others), Poetry Evenings, Dessert Island Discs and many others.
Please look out for our events. If you have ideas for events that we could put on or you know of village projects we could raise money for, please let us know. Steve Garrett, Chairman (Tel: (01963) 240417)
